Colossians 2:6-7 - 6Â As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7Â Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
As believers, we have received Christ as Lord, Saviour of the world. We accept that He is sovereign (Revelation 4:11), the King of our hearts. The closer our walk with God, the deeper we are rooted in Him - the more a tree receives water, the deeper the roots due to growth.
Until we have that solid foundation in Christ like the house built on the rock (Matthew 7:24-27), then we can be built up in Him, having the desire to learn more about our Heavenly Father and to discover how unworthy we are to even be called a servant of God yet He calls us His children (Galatians 3:26; Romans 8:17-19).
We are to crave spiritual development, a deeper yearning to know God, and to conduct our lives in relation to His Will. Paul describes that our walk with God should be intimate, spiritual and a living union with Christ throughout the book of Colossians.
May our hearts overflow with gratitude that Christ lived, died and rose again so that our sins could be forgiven, and that we could live a God-glorifying life that has a purpose. A purpose to serve a risen Saviour.
Prayer
Dear Lord and Heavenly Father,
May I never forget that you took my sin, and it is nailed to the cross. Help me to walk in Your ways - to seek you in all that I do and to continually look to you for wisdom and purpose. Strengthen me as I live my life our for You, O Lord, and establish my steps, that I will be a light for You. Give me a thankful heart towards You, for I should abound in thanksgiving for saving my soul but most of all, for sending a Saviour. Help me to be a witness for you.
Amen
