Longing to be in His Presence

I often wondered how can I be in God's presence? And decided to list them down...

  • Repentance

  • Prayer

  • Reading and studying God’s living word

  • Worship

  • Christian company

  • Private or public bible study

Ultimately, longing to be in the presence of God is to experience the shining of God’s face on us, to experience a deep and personal relationship of clinging to Him in the dark times but also clinging to Him in the lighter seasons. To rejoice always (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

He is present everywhere and we must be aware of Him - we cannot hide from Him, therefore we must submit to Him, His will, His ways, for His glory and for our own good (Romans 8:28). We are called to glorify God in all that we do (1 Corinthians 10:31), meaning that during our tiresome and tedious tasks, our daily interactions and our selves (mind, body and spirit) we are to say “I will do my utmost best glorify you, God, in this task/situation/place”.

John Piper said, "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him. Which means that you never have to choose between your greatest joy and God's greatest glory.”

People look at us and it may be the only Bible they ever read - may it challenge, comfort but also drive them to repentance knowing that He can only provide the ultimate satisfaction that us as human beings crave for in things that are temporal and short-lived. Tell of that One way, that One truth, that One and only life worth living is in and for and through Christ (John 14:6)

When you are in the shower, praise Him. When you are driving to work, praise Him. When you receive unexpected, heartbreaking news of a loved one, praise Him. When you receive recognition, praise Him. (Psalm 34:1)

Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6)

Praise Him in all circumstances.

And always long to be in His presence (1 Chronicles 16:11)
